Pope Francis renewed the invitation to recite the Rosary during the month of October
to “ward off the attacks of the devil who wants to divide the Church”. The new
appeal was made at the conclusion of the Angelus on Sunday, 7 October, in Saint
Peter”s Square. The Holy Father greeted
the faithful gathered at the Shrine of Pompei for the Supplication to Our Lady
of Pompeii, led by Cardinal Mario Zenari, Apostolic Nuncio in Syria. He renewed
his invitation to the faithful from all over the world to recite the Rosary
every day, concluding it with the prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel. Previously Francis had dedicated his
reflection to the Gospel passage of Saint Mark on “the dignity of marriage as a
union of love that implies fidelity”.
On the previous afternoon, in the Paul VI
Hall, the Holy Father, together with the Synod Father, had participated in the
meeting with young people.
