Cardinal Tagle to HIV Patients: Have Courage, Keep Faith

Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle of Manila has told people with HIV to have courage and “never lose their faith.

According to Vatican Radio, the Archbishop of Manila visited San Lazaro Hospital in Sta. Cruz, Manila, spending about a half hour with some HIV patients and their families on April 30th.

Also inside the ward was Father Emerico Sixto San Juan, rector of the San Carlos Minor Seminary, who said the cardinal told patients “to have courage and keep their faith in God.

Cardinal Tagle, the priest also shared, also told the parents present “to immediately settle their differences because it adds to the physical sickness of their children with HIV.

Cardinal Tagle also spoke with the patients’ families and warned against the damage done to children when they see their parents fighting.

The Filipino cardinal acknowledged that it is normal that couples fight, but urged them not to end the day–as Pope Francis always recommends to couples–without making peace.
