Pope Francis Laughs Over Children’s Choir’s Tenacity at General Audience

In prayer, when we want something, we must insist.

Pope Francis joyfully said this to little Italian singers who wouldn’t be silenced during yesterday’s General Audience in the Vatican’s Paul VI Hall.

During the greetings in Italian, the “€œNotes Ascendantes“€ [Ascending Notes] Choir of Sant”€™Eufemia-Lamezia Terme, Italy, performed their song in the midst of the crowded hall, and wouldn’t stop, despite the waves of applause that came their way.

After a first wave arrived prior to them finishing, the children continued their long song without ceasing.

A second wave arrived but, without giving, the little singers continued to sing.

Their tenacity made Pope Francis laugh, who looked at them with an amused air from the platform, and they were greeted by renewed applause. As those in the hall laughed too, the Pontiff lauded the children”€™s perseverance.

At the end of their performance, Francis said humorously: “€œLike this, we must do so in prayer.

“When one wants something, when we ask the Lord for something, you must insist, insist, insist

“It”€™s a good example. It’s a good example of prayer! he said, smiling.

“Thank you!”€
