Portugal: Pope Francis Greets Radio Renascenca Celebrating Its 80th Anniversary

Pope Francis greeted Portuguese Radio “€˜Renascenca”€ (“€œRenaissance Radio”€), celebrating its 80th anniversary, reported Vatican Radio in English on April 11, 2017. It is a station, highlighted the Pontiff, which has sown “€œfraternal solidarity and the mercy of God in the heart of humanity.”€

Monsignor Rino Passigato, Apostolic Nuncio in Portugal, read to the Renacenca Multimedia Group the Holy Father”€™s message, sent through the mediation of Monsignor Angelo Becciu, Substitute of the Vatican State Secretariat.

“€œPope Francis warmly greets the great family of Radio Renascenca on the occasion of the celebration of its 80th anniversary, and he expresses his appreciation for the work of all those that, in the course of the years, have served the Church by their daily work through this means of social communication,”€ he said.

The Argentine Pope also said that he appreciates the work of a station that brings “€œJesus”€™ Gospel”€ to “€œPortugal and to the immense Portuguese-speaking world.”€

Francis assured the radio station of his “€œprayers so that its numerous evangelization initiatives will bear fruit.”€ The Pope granted an interview to Radio Renanceca in September 2015.

Broadcasting from Lisbon to Portugal, Radio Renascenca is a private radio, which belongs to several organizations of the Portuguese Catholic Church. The Group observed the 80th anniversary with a Mass celebrated by Cardinal Manuel Clemente, Patriarch of Lisbon.
